Photofort!

You may have heard of Treefort. You know, Boise's annual music festival that's making big waves in the music festival world? (See Treefort Music Fest 2022: Why You Should Go to the Boise Music Festival - Thrillist).

Treefort's more than just 500 bands performing over 5 days in late March. In fact, there are multiple forts nestled inside Treefort. There's Alefort, Artfort, Comedyfort, Dragfort, Filmfort, Foodfort, Fortfort, Hackfort, Kidfort, Photofort, Skatefort, Storyfort, and Yogafort!

Two of the forts are VERY exclusive. Can you guess which ones?

For Simon and me, it's a father-n-son-sing-along as we go from venue to venue to take in the music of bands we've never heard before. It's a bit of hit and miss, but it's usually a "hit." There's so much talent to witness.

Treefort's also an opportunity for me to be a shutterbug!

Hey Fortfort people! It's time to fire up the stereo hi-fi, put on your favorite Pat Boone LP, and scroll though cool picked pics from this year's Treefort ... in picture-n-minimal-caption format!

Photofort!

Oh! And don't forget your beer-in-a-cup!

Let's review Treefort 2022! Shall we?

Dante Elephante (Santa Barbara, California). Flowing patterns of color at the Masonic Lodge Red Room. Psychedelic ingestion not required.

Angel Abaya (Los Angeles, California). Angel's from Boise and a favorite of mine. Opening night at the El Korah Temple ... which happens to be one our favorite festival venues! Win! Win!

Angel Abaya (Los Angeles, California). Watch out for creepy Camera Head Man!

Built To Spill (Boise, Idaho). Melanie Radford and Doug Martsch. Somebody's having fun!

Built To Spill (Boise, Idaho). Teresa Cruses = solid drumming!

Methods Body (Portland, Oregon). John Niekrasz is nothing but fun intense creative goodness wearing a red cap!

Methods Body (Portland, Oregon). Luke Wyland and John Niekrasz are a super good spacy duo!

Vanishing Twin (United Kingdom). The AMAZING Valentina Magaletti is apparently enjoying their long-awaited U.S. debut! Valentina is a precision percussionist.

Vanishing Twin (United Kingdom). Cathy Lucas and Phil MFU. MFU? According to their Wikipedia entry, MFU = Man From Uranus. And I'm not making that up! I guess you have to come from somewhere!

Prism Bitch (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Lilah Rose and the calm before her storm!

Prism Bitch (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Chris Walsh, Lilah Rose, and Lauren Poole.

Prism Bitch (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Lilah Rose closes out their set at the Masonic Red Room with LOVE!

Lights On the Crowd - Masonic Lodge Red Room. No Photoshop ... just the patterned lights moving around the room. Dude! It's so KNARLY!

Tempestarii (Boise, Idaho ... and beyond).

The write-ups for bands are largely uninformative and sometimes funny. For example, "Tempestarii distill black metal into its sentiment of cathartic ritual through immersive live performances."

Translated: We are ear-bleedingly loud and this guy is going to SCREAM AT YOU!

AAAHHHH!!!!!!!

We took a hard pass after the opening 10-minute song?

AAAHHHH!!!!!!!

From music festival goers everywhere: To the countless crews that make band change-overs happen ... We thank you for your service!

Thee Sacred Souls (San Diego, California). Josh Lane bringing throwback soul music to the El Korah Temple.

Thee Sacred Souls (San Diego, California). Alex Garcia and Sal Samano have a weird nerdly stage demeanor ... and they absolutely nail the music's style and vibe.

Thee Sacred Souls (San Diego, California). Supporting singer Jensine Benitez is lovin' Treefort.

Babehoven (Hudson, NY). I couldn't find his name, but this drummer was amazing!

Monta at Odds (Kansas City, Kansas). Such a great pop band! Look closely and you'll find the drummer! And to the right, the bass player!

  5. Sweet photography. You really have it down. That indoor action photography is about the hardest thing to do.
